Flowering Agave Attenuata (Foxtail)

14 December 2011 No Comment

These photos of a flowering Agave Attenuata (Foxtail) were sent in by Sherrill.

The plant measures (from ground to flowering stalk) 6′ 8″ (just over 2 metres) and the flowering stalk is  8′ 7″ (almost 3 metres).

The second photo shows a close up of the pods waiting to flower.  Sherrill estimated about 600 pods. She had to wire the plant to support posts.

This plant is about 16 years old and is growing in Simi Valley, California.
